Beyond being New York’s preeminent socialite, Tinsley Mortimer is a fashion designer. She launched her own handbag line, Samantha Thavasa by Tinsley Mortimer, in winter 2006 with the American flagship store in her very own neighborhood, the Upper East Side of New York. In summer 2007, she was installed as the beauty ambassador of Christian Dior. In fall 2007, she introduced her first clothing collection, Riccimie by Tinsley Mortimer, which is sold exclusively in Japan.

Born Tinsley Randolph Mercer in Richmond, her middle name Randolph is a reference to her ancestor Thomas Jefferson; and their family is descended from John Mercer, the writer of the first Code of Virginia. Yep, Gossip Girl is pretty much a Tinsley Mortimer biopic.

We love socialite Minnie Mortimer in her sister-in-law’s style!

Like Vera Wang, Tory Burch looks great in her own clothes. The designer enjoys a huge celeb following - and it’s obvious that the stylists on Gossip Girl are ga-ga over Burch. Launched in 2004, the namesake line blends timeless and classic design elements with modern fashion sensibilities. Burch draws on an understanding of vintage clothing, fashion history and tailoring, and accents it with bohemian and ethnic details.

India Hicks, daughter of renowned British interior designer David Hicks, spent a decade working as a fashion model in New York and Paris before moving to the Bahamas with her husband. She now enjoys a second career as a sought after interior designer and television personality. She launched her own fragrance line with Crabtree & Evelyn, which has been incredibly well recieved by consumers and industry alike.

Aerin Lauder is carrying on her grandmother’s legacy as Creative Director and Vice President of Advertising for Estée Lauder cosmetics. Aerin recently launched her own Private Collection fragrance in New York as a tribute to Estée Lauder. For Lauder, who is also the face of the Private Collection campaign, injecting new life into her grandmother’s fragrance has been about more than savvy marketing.

“I also knew Estée and I think that’s very unique because I was taught by her so many wonderful things. The importance of good skin and taking care of your face, and every woman should wear just a dab of fragrance,” Lauder told CNN. Aerin is also a well-known face in American high-society and her image and reputation attract Estée Lauder’s target audience. She is also famous for marketing coups like the high-profile advertising deals with actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Liz Hurley.
