Sticky and Sweet All Over Again: 50 is the New 12

Love her or hate her — Madonna remains at the top of her game. And after dozens of distinctive looks throughout the years, she continues to set trends on her Sticky and Sweet tour. Arianne Phillips, the brain behind the seams of Madonna’s costumes, has designed pieces to range across four distinct influences: gangsta pimp, art deco, gypsy, and futuristic. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are also boots courtesy of Stella McCartney. Love! Topping the list of collaborating designers are Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, who designed the singer’s signature dominatrix costumes; Tom Ford, who provided custom suits for the band; sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and accessories from Roberto Cavalli, Jeremy Scott, and Yves Saint Laurent. The US singer, who recently turned 50, defied her age with high-energy dance routines. She wore a black leotard-style outfit designed by French fashion house Givenchy and black, knee-length boots. US rappers Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, who featured on her latest chart-topping album Hard Candy, appeared in video clips, as did Britney Spears. Madonna will be hoping to shatter her own record for the highest-grossing tour ever by a female artist and prove that the musical master of reinvention still has what it takes to pull in crowds young and old.
