US Magazine Reveals Hot List of Big Apple’s 25 Most Stylish

Nina Garcia

Project Runway judge; Marie Claire editor; author

“I like to use accessories as the edgy component of my wardrobe. It would be the shoes, it would be the jewelry, or it would be the bag.” ShoeMinx loves her because she hates Crocs as much as we do. Plus, Nina’s word is fashion gospel.

New York takes its fashion seriously. And Madison Avenue is the fashion runway for some of the best dressed shows on TV, like “Sex and the City,” “Gossip Girls” and “Project Runway.” Us magazine revealed its list of the “25 Most Stylish New Yorkers” who are always dressed to the nines in this 24/7 capital of chic.

The list is a mixed bag of gossip column regulars, high-profile businessmen and woman, TV personalities and designers for whom looking good is a job requirement. But no Sarah Jessica Parker? We demand a recount!

Looking good is easy when you can just shop the runway or invitation-only boutiques. The true style test comes down to the shoes - shoes make or break an outfit. So here’s a sampler of who’s en vogue in the fashion metropolis when it comes to their footwear aptitude,

Tyra Banks

America’s Next Top Model/The Tyra Banks Show executive producer, host

“Girls, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to look great.” ShoeMinx loves that the queen of the runway and CEO of the talk show circuit keeps her glamazon look grounded in accessible style; Tyra has been snapped indulging in some retail shoe therapy at discount cobbler DSW. Perhaps she was picking up another pair of Via Spiga shoes.

Kelly Ripa

Live with Regis & Kelly co-host

On-air, her fashion is as much a fan favorite as her chirpy banter. So much so, that “Kelly’s Fashion Finder” was launched on the show’s website so viewers can see what clothes and shoes she’s wearing for the day, with close-ups. Off-air, Kelly’s a fan of Marni, YSL and Ryka; the on-the-go mom is spokeswoman for the athletic shoe company. ShoeMinx is a long-time fan of this petite powerhouse. She keeps Regis in line, balances work and family and can run a high-heel marathon in impressive Usain Bolt-like time.

The Fug Girls

Fashion Bloggers

Heather: “My favorite place in the whole world is the new shoe floor at Saks Fifth Avenue. I’d wager shoes are a comfort splurge for a lot of women because no matter how you feel about your figure, shoes always fit, and that’s probably why I gravitate there, too. Also, I love a high heel that could kill a man.”

Becky Newton

“Ugly Betty” star

“I was a flip-flop girl when I started the show, and now I see no problem wearing five-inch heels to go to work at 5:00 in the morning.”

Aubrey O’Day

Danity Kane singer

“I love huge YSL platforms!”

Rounding out the list: musician John Legend, singer Cassie, business executive Deborah Marquardt, designer Patrick Robinson, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, DJ Ruckus, Oprah’s BFF Gayle King, gossip editor Paula Froelich, stylist June Ambrose, “Gossip Girl’s” Jessica Szohr, “View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, DJ Ruckus, TV correspondent Tiki Barber, hairstylist Frederic Fekkai, journalist Mika Brzezinski, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet, hockey player turned Gap model Sean Avery and designer Tommy Hilifiger.

Sure, the list might not have the snob appeal of Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List, but hey, at least it’s not the 25 Least Stylish in New York. Though we’re still not sure how Aubrey made the cut.
